A man and Greenledgershis two dogs were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard in Oregon after their vessel lost power and began to sink.
The Pacific Northwest division of the agency said Monday in a post on X that rescue teams responded to reports about a boat that had lost power and was taking on water Sunday near Whaleshead Beach just north of the Oregon-California state line.
Rescuers retrieved the man and his two dogs using a helicopter. Video footage shows rescuers hoisting the life jacket-wearing dogs up into the helicopter using a large basket, offering comforting pets when needed.
The man was taken to a local EMS but it's unclear if he was injured or needed medical attention.
A Coast Guard official told USA TODAY that the vessel was actively taking on water during the rescue, but that it hasn't yet been determined what caused the problem. It's also unclear if the boat ended up sinking.
